Shopped Wallets at Ben Thanh Night Market

We’re halfway through the first month of 2013 and I’m just checking in right now. Lol.

I’m still on travel, and I’m getting totally weary. And I’m longing to be home and get back to my regular routine. I guess more than a month long of traveling does that to everyone. Thankfully, I just have a day more to go and I’m back home to Phnom Penh. Yay!!!! I so want to get back to work and tinker with my website template builder, clean my house and tackle my laundry.

Right now though, I’m in Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) Vietnam and we’ve been touring the city with my mom and aunt. And of course, I just had to do a bit of shopping too. It’s a too good an opportunity to pass up. And I do love shopping at Ben Thanh Market, especially the night market.

Here’s my latest buys: 3 wallets for only 100,000 VND each (around $5). I bought this coz I know how much replicas like this cost in Phnom Penh’s markets. Around $8-$12, so this way I saved a couple of dollars per wallet.

Shopping at the night market here is just awesome. And I get to practice my haggling skills to the max. I just wish I have truckloads of dongs to buy all the stuff I want. Ha!

Video Find: How to Thrift & Vintage Shop

I miss thrift shopping. A lot. I haven’t really done any serious thrift shopping for awhile now because I’m busy and I feel like I still have tons of stuff. I don’t want to shop when I don’t need to coz that ain’t being thrifty anymore. But that’s not to say I don’t like or I would never thrift shop again. I’m just taking a break.

Right now I really really miss the crazy feeling of sifting through piles of stuff and finding gems. The thrill of finding a great item of clothing or handbags, or even kitchen stuff is just incomparable. I’m sure thrift hunters would agree with me. Perhaps, I need to schedule a one-time thrift shopping expedition soon, who knows I might stumble upon a speaker stand musicians friend, or maybe a nice set of tea set (which I really really been wanting to buy) or some awesome boho chic skirt.

To curb my thrift shopping mania right now I just decided to do a virtual thrift shopping spree via videos! I scoured Youtube again from some awesome thrift and vintage shopping vintage. I stumbled across a channel – FashionSteeleNYC, of blogger Monroe Steele.

Here’s two of her thrift and vintage shopping videos, brimming full of tips and ideas for thrift and vintage hunters. She also explains the difference between thrift shopping vs. vintage shopping, plus some shop recommendations for those in NYC.

Dropping In…

Hello!

Yeah, I’m back. To blogging but not shopping. I’m on strict shopping diet coz I just had too much last month and also I’m prepping up for a huge shopping spree in December. And I’m also in a saving mode to gift myself with some gadgetry. So the past few weeks all I bought was barefruitsnacks. All food supplies only. No clothes, no bags or anything not necessary.

But that’s not the main reason I was absent from blogging here. I was simply too busy with family and a lot of errands. Also I had a lot of sites to build and freelancing clients to keep happy.

I’m feeling guilty though that I really forgot to even update the site even once. Even with just deal alerts. I do want and plan to keep up with things soon.

Fave Shops: Amazon

Been asking myself why I haven’t signed up as an Amazon affiliate for awhile now. Lol. That’s place is every shopper’s paradise and besides they do have awesome, I mean really awesome deals!

I have long been shopping in Amazon, I used to buy books and some lightweight supplies. When hubby went to US (hence shipping was easier) I got to shop for a lot of electronics on Amazon. This is where I bought my Nintendo Wii and I got a really great package deal. I also got a Bamboo Wacom drawing tablet, voice recorder, and a whole bunch of clothes and bags.

Their daily deals are worth checking out. I always get a great shopping experience with them and you really can’t beat the extensive inventory, they even have faucets, Big Agnes tents, automotive supplies!

Anyway, since I’m so into it, I’ll be occasionally linking to some recommended products on Amazon. Also each of my posts would be automatically appending Amazon products and deals at the bottom so be sure to check them out.

Share a Thrift Hunt: Skirt-sy!

Whenever I go thrift shopping, I always make sure I check the teens/kids section for something for my daughter. She loves my second hand clothing finds for her. And we both love mix and matching those finds.

On a recent thrift shopping trip, I found some skirts for her. The first one a pale blue layered skirt with eyelet design. This one’s gorgeous and now her favorite skirt. She says it makes her feel like a princess. Lol! The second one is a checkered and pleated skirt. Also very nice and she loves wearing this to school.

Thrifted Skirts for Kids

I know the photos look like its all crumpled. I guess I was too excited about the finds that I snapped photos without even washing or ironing them. Do forgive this too excited thrifter.

Both skirts for just $0.50!! A fab deal. You have to stop wondering why I love thrift shopping. I get the same high as cigar collectors finding lowest cigar prices and deals.

Woot! I Won Some Shopping WON!

You know I’m really a happy Gmarket shopper. Why? I love the goodies in Gmarket. I get lots and lots of unique stuff. Gmarket product inventory is just massive, I bet you can even find pls-4 there. What makes it extra happy shopping place is that, you get lots of deals, coupons, shopping rewards.

It’s my current shopping paradise. And now it made itself all the more endearing to me. I have previously blogged about my purchases and I also started a Gmarket Tutorial series. And they do reward bloggers with shopping money. If your blog entry wins, you can get as much as 50,000Won shopping money.

And that’s what I got recently. An email that I was one of those who won TopBlogger of the Month!

Gmarket Top Blogger of the Month

So I have some shopping money sitting in my G-account and I’ll just keep it there till I can accumulate some more. When it comes to GMarket shopping, I would really recommend buying a lot to make the most of the shipping cost.
