Last weekend’s gold mine. Phnom Penh is just indulging the thrift hunter in me eh? Hubby got a tip from a friend about a huge warehouse for Japanese second hand furnitures along National Road 1. I was actually not much interested coz I thought its a little far off but since we didn’t have anything to do anyway so we went there last Sunday.
88 Japanese Furniture Warehoue is located on Lot 88 National Road 1 Poum Beoung Chouk, Sankat Nerot, Khan Mean Chey about 3 km from Monivong Bridge and Chbar Ampov Market. Landmarks? A few hundred meters past Nerot Pagoda and a little past the intersection to Bayon TV tower.
What’s inside the warehouse? Mostly home items – cabinets, tables, sofas, mattresses, cribs, car seats, bicycles, exercise equipments, kitchen items. They don’t have second hand clothing but they do have lots of bags and shoes. Since this is a warehouse/wholesaler most of the good stuff goes right out during public auctions. A lot of second-hand retailers buy by lots or containers. The leftovers are then sold on retail.
I find their prices a little steep but the good news is that you can haggle. And I hope one time I could join an auction. Here’s some photos of the goodies. {Please do excuse the blurry shots, I just took this with a phone camera}.
Bags, lots of bags for baghags.. i like how they organized the bags. and its in a separate room and most of them still in tip top condition
bento boxes, frames, prints..
sofa’s, cabinets, chairs, tables, tv stands…
collectible Japanese dolls
lamps and lighting
beddings and mattresses
i lurve this love seat but it was already tagged sold!
shoes, home and kitchen items
bicycles and sewing machines. they also have exercise equipments but I forgot to take photos..
